Vietnamese low-cost carrier VietJet Air has boosted its capacity in preparation for the busy Lunar New Year’s travel.

At the end of December 2024, the carrier welcomed two new Airbus A321neo Airbus Cabin Flex ACF aircraft to its fleet.

On January 8, 2024, the airline added four more A320-200 aircraft to serve travelers during the peak season of Lunar New Year.

In a social media update, VietJet said the four aircraft immediately operated on domestic and international routes upon arrival, particularly on routes between the northern and southern region of Vietnam.

The four wet-leased A320-200 aircraft will be operated on Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance (ACMI) by Freebird Airlines.

Founded in 2000, Freebird Airlines is an airline registered in Turkey and Malta and is a subsidiary of Gözen Holding, a group of companies mostly in the aviation sector with over 40 years experience in the industry.

The Lunar New Year, or Tet, is the most celebrated holiday in Vietnam. According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, domestic flights during the Lunar New Year have reached a booking rate of 90% to 100%.
