Qatar Airways becomes the official airline partner of UEFA Champions League

Qatar Airways has announced that it has become the official airline partner of the UEFA Champions League, in an agreement set to last until 2030. 

In a press release published on September 19, 2024, the carrier declared that this new collaboration enables the carrier to extend its foothold in the European region. 

“Our partnership with the UEFA Champions League not only strengthens our connection with Europe but also aligns perfectly with our vision of fostering unity and celebrating excellence,” said Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, Qatar Airways Group CEO. “This partnership highlights our commitment to connecting people worldwide through our network of over 170 destinations.” 

Aleksander Čeferin, UEFA President, added: “Qatar Airways and UEFA are united in their passion for sports and global business excellence.”

The carrier released a special campaign video to share the news, starring Brazilian football star Ricardo Kaka. In the video, he acts as a pilot making a special announcement to passengers, alongside English football icon Rio Ferdinand and sports journalist Fabrizio Romano. 

The deal also covers sponsorship rights for the UEFA Super Cup, the UEFA Youth League and the UEFA Futsal Champions League, along with sponsorship rights for UEFA men’s national team competitions, including UEFA EURO 2020 and UEFA EURO 2024. 

Qatar Airways sponsorship now covers the top levels of both national and club football, with partners including FIFA, UEFA, and the AFC. 

Currently, Qatar Airways serves over 50 European destinations from its home and hub at Hamad International Airport (DOH) in Doha.
