Passengers departing and arriving at Oakland International Airport (OAK) on February 14, 2024 will be greeted by a squad of five therapy dogs, ready to spread the love.

The therapy dogs, which are all members of the Valley Humane Society’s Canine Comfort Pet-Assisted Therapy team, will be decked out in Valentine’s Day outfits, and will bring comfort and cuddles to passengers from 11:00-13:00 local time.

The squad of canines ready to give pugs and kisses are Peach, Bailey, Karli, Ketchum, and Torrie, along with their volunteer owners.

Additionally, airport employees will be passing out Valentine’s cards to families traveling with children throughout the day, and there is a Valentine’s Day balloon arch placed in pre-security Terminal 1 for festive photos.

“Oakland International Airport looks forward to hosting Valley Humane Society for the Valentine’s Day holiday,” Craig Simon, Interim Director of Aviation at the Port of Oakland said in a press statement.

“We appreciate the valuable service provided by the Canine Comfort Pet-Assisted Therapy team, and we thank them for spreading the love at OAK. We hope that passengers enjoy their special visit,” Simon added.

Located in Pleasanton, California, Valley Humane Society brings animals to places other pets can’t go, sharing the unconditional love that pets offer and creating opportunities for people to experience the love of a pet.

Valley Humane Society Canine Comfort Pet-Assisted Therapy volunteers also team up with their dogs to visit medical facilities, schools, and retirement homes.
