Oman Air has announced a new route for launch in 2024, that will connect passengers between Muscat and Rome directly for the first time.
Oman Air, the flag carrier of Oman, began teasing the news over social media on October 7, 2024, before confirming the new connection.
In a post on X, Oman Air wrote: “All roads lead to _____!” Hint: it’s a destination you’ll love. Any guesses?”.
The airline described the new route as its “most significant” in five years and one that will offer “travelers in Oman their first-ever direct connection to the Eternal City”.
Oman Air will launch the service on December 20, 2024, with flights scheduled from Muscat to Rome on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

The outbound flight departs from Muscat at 15:00 and arrives in Rome at 19:30, while the return flight departs from Rome at 20:30 and arrives in Muscat at 05:45.
“Our new direct flights to Rome represent an exciting step in our transformation. Marking our second destination in Italy, this key route not only enhances our European offerings, but also marks the start of our strategy to maximise the utilisation of our narrow-body fleet,” said Con Korfiatis, CEO of Oman Air.
Korfiatis added: “As one of the most visited cities in the world, Rome is a perfect addition to our network. We are thrilled to offer our guests seamless and convenient access to the destinations they want to go to, while continuing to set new standards for service and hospitality.”
