Malaysia Airlines has officially relaunched its direct flights to Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) on March 22, 2025, nine years after it last flew the route.
The carrier’s Airbus A350-941 (with registration 9M-MAB) departed Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) as Flight MH22 at 23:53 local time, and arrived in Paris at 05:51 local time the following day, after a flight time of 12 hours and 58 minutes.
The reinstallation of the non-stop Paris flight makes it Malaysia Airlines’ 68th destination. The Malaysian flag carrier will operate four weekly flights between Kuala Lumpur and Paris from March 22-27, 2025, before increasing to daily flights from March 29, 2025.
To celebrate Malaysia Airlines’ return to Paris, a send-off event was held at KUL Airport’s departure gate, where passengers received special memorabilia to commemorate the milestone.
The event was attended by representatives from Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), including Boo Hui Yee, Group Chief Financial Officer of MAG, and Dersenish Aresandiran, Chief Commercial Officer of Airlines for MAG.
To make the passenger experience extra special, Malaysia Airlines also introduced its “Time for Memorable Journeys” pocketbook guide for all passengers flying the route.
The Paris edition is the first in an ongoing series designed to enhance the travel experience by providing useful tips for navigating the city. It includes essential information like local phrases, French etiquette, and insights into Parisian cuisine, helping travelers explore the city like locals and enjoy their journey.
According to the airline, the load factor for MH22 reached 95%, while its return flight to KUL, MH21, registered 98%.
MH21 is currently airborne, having left Paris at 11:58 local time on March 24, 2025. It is expected to arrive at KUL at 07:01 local time, on March 25, 2025.
Inbound passengers also received a loot bag as a welcome token from the airline as they boarded the flight, personally given by MAG’s Head of Airlines Global Marketing, Emily Tan.
“The launch of our direct service to Paris marks a significant milestone for Malaysia Airlines as we expand our European footprint and reconnect Malaysia with one of the world’s most iconic destinations,” Dersenish Aresandiran, Chief Commercial Officer of Airlines from MAG, said.
“This route not only strengthens our position as the gateway to Asia and beyond but also reflects the growing demand for seamless travel between Malaysia and France.”
“In anticipation of this return, we introduced the ‘Time for Paris’ campaign last year, inviting travelers to rediscover the magic of the City of Light with Malaysia Airlines’ signature Malaysian Hospitality. We are thrilled to now bring this journey to life and look forward to welcoming passengers on board for a truly memorable travel experience,” Aresandiran added.
