Kuwait Airways B777 damaged after boarding bridge collapses at Dhaka Airport

A Kuwait Airways B777-300 aircraft suffered extensive damages when a boarding bridge unexpectedly collapsed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (DAC) in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

The incident occurred in the early hours of November 6, 2024 at around 02:20 local time.

Flight KU 283 had just arrived in DAC Airport from Kuwait International Airport (KWI) at roughly 01:00 local time. According to reports, after all passengers had disembarked from the B777-300 (with registration 9K-AOJ), the boarding bridge that was attached to the plane’s L1 door suddenly collapsed. 

The L1 door was torn off from the aircraft fuselage in the process. No injuries were reported, and only the pilot and flight attendants were onboard the aircraft when the boarding bridge collapsed.

The aircraft was initially scheduled to depart for Kuwait at 02:45 local time but due to the incident all passengers were accommodated at hotels. Kuwait Airways had to deploy a new aircraft to Dhaka to fly the passengers to Kuwait.

An investigation into the matter is being conducted by the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh.
