Kuwait-based low-cost carrier Jazeera Airways has confirmed its intention to purchase six A320ceo aircraft as part of its ongoing transformation and strategic growth.

The six Airbus A320-200 jets are currently on lease to Jazeera Airways and are already an integral part of the carrier’s fleet.

Explaining the decision in a statement on December 10, 2024, Jazeera Airways said the strategic move was aimed at “reducing unit costs and mitigating supply chain challenges that have impacted the aviation industry” such as delays in aircraft deliveries.

“Our decision to invest in six Airbus A320 aircraft reflects our forward-thinking approach to fleet management and transformation. By building a balance between leased and owned aircraft, we are reinforcing our operational resilience while ensuring we maintain one of the most cost-efficient models in the region,” said Marwan Boodai, Chairman of Jazeera Airways.

He added: “This acquisition also highlights our commitment to enhancing passenger experience, improving operational efficiency, and expanding our reach as we transform into a more sustainable and innovative airline. As we evolve, we will continue to stay focused on delivering value to both our customers and our shareholders.”

As Jazeera Airways approaches its 20th anniversary in 2025, the carrier is focused on growth with plans to increase its network routes, enhance in-flight services and elevate the passenger experience through new technologies.

The airline is also awaiting delivery of 18 Airbus A320neo and six A321neo aircraft from 2026 to add to its fleet of 24 planes, which includes 13 A320ceo and 11 A320neo jets.
