Hawaiian Airlines has unveiled a new collection of retro travel accessories marking the carrier’s 95th year of operations from the Pacific archipelago. The range of goods, produced in conjunction with the locally-based ALOHA Collection has been designed to acknowledge the carrier’s service to the Hawaiian Islands over the past nine decades and is being sold both online as well as in stores.

The collection has been specially designed to represent the history of Hawaiian Airlines, Hawaii’s longest-serving carrier that introduced commercial air travel to the Islands in 1929. The range evolved following an exclusive partnership with ALOHA Collection, a renowned Hawaiian splash-proof accessories brand. The range, which went on sale on November 1, 2024, is available at the ALOHA Collection’s store in Honolulu plus DFS stores in Waikiki and at the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu (HNL), as well as online.

The collection features vintage takes on classic ALOHA Collection accessories and features among other times, an aviation-inspired style called the Flight Bag. This particular item is described by the airline as “honoring the 1970s era of the Hawaiian Airlines brand, which in 1973 introduced a montage of warm, sunrise-hues and the first iteration of Hawaiian’s iconic Pualani, a distinct symbol of the carrier’s history and one of the few feminine figures to front an airline.”

“This colorful collaboration is the perfect opportunity for our guests and ALOHA Collection fans to join our anniversary celebration with beautiful accessories that show their love for our brand no matter where they go, from island hopping at 25,000 feet to beach-front shopping in Waikiki,” said Alisa Onishi, senior director of brand and community at Hawaiian Airlines.

Other items in the ALOHA Collection include various-sized pouch bags featuring the vintage Pualani design, a crossbody bag in two retro designs, a day-tripper bag suitable as carry-on luggage, a hip-pack bag, a backpack, a flight bag, and a weekender bag.  The range is on sale with retail prices set between $20 to $74 per item.

The ALOHA Collection was “born out of a love for travel, adventure, and the ocean” states the airline, and was founded by flight attendant (and surfer) Rachael Leinaʻala along with her business partner Heather Aiu, in 2014. The two started their collection with just a single bag, and the brand has since become recognized worldwide and is sold globally.

Marking its 95th year of continuous service in 2024, Hawaiian is Hawaii’s largest and longest-serving airline. The airline offers around 150 daily flights within the Hawaiian Islands, and nonstop flights between Hawaii and 16 US gateway cities, as well as operating services connecting Honolulu and American Samoa, Australia, Cook Islands, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, and Tahiti.

In September 2024, after months of deliberation, the US Department of Transportation (DOT) finally gave its approval to the proposed merger between the carrier with Alaska Airlines. The decision cleared the way for the two carriers to begin the integration process that will see each retain their own identity but also benefit from a wide range of synergies across their respective operations.
