The all-new Gulfstream G400 has successfully completed its first flight, as the test program for the luxury planemaker’s latest private jet commences.

Gulfstream confirmed on August 15, 2024, that the G400 had executed its inaugural flight after taking off from Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport (SAV) at 09:04 local time.

The new aircraft flew for just under three hours, reaching speeds of Mach 0.85 and an altitude of 41,000 feet before safely landing back at SAV.

The Gulfstream G400 was first introduced to the world in October 2021, with a price tag of around $34.5 million.

With the start of flight testing, the next-generation jet is following in the footsteps of the G700 and G800.

The G400 features Gulfstream’s advanced high-speed designed wing and winglet, introduced on the Gulfstream G500 and G600, which greatly enhance efficiency.

It is powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW812GA engines and can operate up to 4,200 nautical miles at Mach 0.85.

The G400 offers customers a choice of three floorplans, with seating for up to nine, 11 or 12 passengers and light from 10 panoramic oval windows.

In a statement, Gulfstream said: “The all-new Gulfstream G400 successfully completed its first flight, officially launching the flight test program and further expanding Gulfstream’s ultramodern, high-technology family of next-generation aircraft. The G400 defines a new standard with the highest performance and greatest comfort ever experienced in this segment.”
