Gulfstream has smashed Bombardier’s Los Angeles Airport (LAX) to Farnborough Airport (FAB) speed record by 19 minutes, just days after the Global 8000 took the title.
On July 30, 2026, Gulfstream proudly announced that it has reclaimed the fastest time flying between the City of Angels and the Home of British Aviation.
Gulfstreams said its G700 completed the 4,740-nautical-mile stretch in eight hours and 27 minutes from takeoff to landing.
On July 19, 2026, while traveling to the Farnborough International Airshow, Bombardier’s Global 8000 claimed the speed record after flying between the two airports in eight hours and 46 minutes.
The Canadian company said at the time this was 2.2% faster than a previous record. Gulfstream now claims its flight was 3.6% faster than Bombardier’s trip.
“This latest record is yet another demonstration of Gulfstream’s commitment to delivering proven performance in real-world situations, where it matters most,” Mark Burns, President at Gulfstream, said.
He added: “True aviation speed and distance records are measured from takeoff to touchdown, and this achievement reflects exactly the kind of performance our customers experience every day.”
The Global 8000 entered service in December 2025, and officially is the fastest civil aircraft since Concorde, capable of reaching Mach 0.95. The G700 entered service in 2024 and has a top speed of 0.935.
In fairness to Bombardier, when the Global 8000 broke the record over a week ago, the crew had to “overcome unfavorable tailwinds”, reaching a top speed of Mach 0.93. Gulfstream did not release details on the conditions the G700 flew in.
