Marking 15 years since its first flight, flydubai has unveiled a special commemorative livery on one of its Boeing 737 aircraft.
On its launch date – June 1, 2009, the carrier operated its inaugural flight from Dubai to Beirut with a Boeing 737-800. Fast forward to the modern day, and flydubai has created a network of 125 destinations served by a fleet of 87 aircraft and has so far carried over 100 million passengers.
The special 15th-anniversary livery (applied to Boeing 737 MAX 8 registered A6-FPC) features the standard flydubai external scheme but with large ’15 years’ decals displayed over the window line on either side of the fuselage. The new titles are accompanied by images of various international landmarks from flydubai destinations set below in a myriad of eye-catching colors.
“Today, on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of flydubai, I would like to congratulate the team at flydubai on the success they have achieved since their inaugural flight to Beirut on 01 June 2009,” said Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of flydubai and Emirates, the carrier’s sister airline.

flydubai has been inspired by the success and ambition of Dubai, which has been and continues to be a key contributor to the success of the airline. According to a company statement, “The vision of the leadership of the UAE has been a guiding principle; enabling the airline to grow, expand and adapt to the changing market requirements and further support trade and tourism”.
Flydubai’s 15-year-long journey of growth has seen the carrier expand quickly from humble beginnings. It now serves over 125 destinations in 58 countries across the regions of Africa, Central Asia, the Caucasus, Central and Southeast Europe, the Gulf States, the Middle East, the Indian Subcontinent, and Southeast Asia.
The airline operates a uniform fleet of 87 Boeing 737 aircraft, comprising 29 Next-Generation Boeing 737-800s, 55 Boeing 737 MAX 8, and 3 Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft. Additionally, the company ordered 30 787-9 Dreamliners at the Dubai Airshow in November 2023, with deliveries due to commence in 2026. The airline has announced an intention to fly these aircraft to destinations such as London, Bangkok, and also possibly cities in Australia.
