KLM’s first Airbus A321neo aircraft performed its maiden flight on August 1, 2024.

In a post on its social media channels, the Dutch flag carrier announced that its first ever Airbus narrow-body aircraft had conducted a test flight out of the manufacturer’s facilities at Finkenwerder airport (XFW), near Hamburg.

The A321neo was crewed by Airbus test pilots and engineers. During the flight, they tested the aircraft’s warning and alert systems and performed various other checks onboard. They also flew the aircraft at its lowest and maximum flyable speeds.

In 2021, the Air France-KLM group placed an order for 100 A320neo and A321neo aircraft (plus 60 options), which were then assigned to KLM and to the group’s low-cost carrier Transavia.

The Dutch airline is expecting to take delivery of its first A321neo in August 2024.
