Etihad Airways has announced the reintroduction of its Airbus A380 service to Paris that came to an abrupt halt following the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak in 2020.

The announcement means that Paris joins London and more recently New York in a select group of worldwide cities that will be served the famous Etihad A380 experience.

When Etihad pulled the A380 from service in 2020, it was understood that the aircraft would not see the light of day again, so the introduction of the Paris route signals a massive turnaround for the superjumbo.

Etihad will start flying its A380 double-decker to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) from November 1, 2024, with a daily service from Zayed International Airport (AUH) in Abu Dhabi.

The Airbus A350-1000 currently runs this route for Etihad so there is a significant leap in capacity availability with the advent of the A380 service.

“As a city celebrated for its style and ambiance, Paris is the perfect destination for our iconic A380 aircraft. This enhancement reflects our commitment to delivering award-winning comfort and service across all cabin classes. The introduction of the A380 on the Abu Dhabi – Paris route enriches both leisure and corporate travel. It underscores Etihad’s commitment to facilitating business connections and travel to Abu Dhabi and beyond,” Antonoaldo Neves, CEO at Etihad Airways, said.

The Etihad A380 will feature 337 ‘Smart seats’ featuring Etihad’s innovative fixed-wing headrests and large pillows while a further 68 seats offer four inches extra legroom.

Etihad’s ‘Business Studios’ feature 70 private spots, complemented by ‘The Lobby’ lounge area while the ‘First Apartments’ includes nine private spaces, designer tableware, leather chairs, and a big ottoman-bed.

First class guests also receive personal amenities and can enjoy an exclusive shower room.

‘The Residence’ accommodates up to two guests, who have access to a three-room suite, a private living room, bedroom, and ensuite bathroom, complete with a shower at 40,000 feet.

EY31 will depart Abu Dhabi at 02:40 and arrive in Paris at 07:30, while the return flight leaves 09:45 and lands back at AUH at 19:25.

Etihad Airways A380 service to New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) restarted on April 22, 2024.
