Emirates’ first Airbus A350-900 was spotted at Toulouse-Blagnac Airport (TLS) undergoing more tests as it prepares to join the Dubai flag carrier later this month.

Footage of the Emirates Airbus A350-900 was captured by plane enthusiast Eurospot (@cliper31) of the widebody jet executing a rejected takeoff.

In the video, smoke from the A350-900’s wheels can be seen rising from the runway as the test pilot slams on the brakes while the front of the aircraft momentarily lifts from the ground.

“First Airbus A350-900 for Emirates and smoking Rejected take off. Now ready for 1st flight,” Eurospot wrote in a post on X.

According to Airbus if takeoff is aborted at V1 (the maximum speed at which a rejected takeoff can be initiated), the “aircraft must be able to be stopped before the end of the runway, without exceeding the maximum energy the brakes can absorb”.

The first A350 is due to enter service with Emirates in September 2024, with 10 in total expected to join the Emirates fleet by March 31, 2025.

The Emirates Airbus A350-900, registered F-WZGA, being tested was seen publicly for first time emblazoned with full fuselage colors in April 2024.

In January 2024, the fuselage of the of the same aircraft was spotted in parts during the production process and in March 2024, the completed plane was photographed with just its tail painted in the Emirates colors.

Emirates currently has 65 Airbus A350-900 aircraft on order. The first 50 were part of an order announced at the Dubai Airshow in 2019 and four years later the carrier extended the purchase by 15 jets.
