Embraer has sold four A-29 Super Tucanos to a new customer based in Africa, bringing the total number of countries on the continent operating the aircraft to six.

Embraer confirmed on December 31, 2024, that the order for the four A-29 Super Tucano light attack and advanced trainer aircraft was made by an undisclosed customer.

“The A-29 Super Tucano is an extremely versatile aircraft that is able to carry out the most challenging missions under the most demanding conditions. It is the world leader in its category as it combines a combat-proven track record with advanced technology,” said Bosco da Costa Junior, President and CEO of Embraer Defense and Security.

The sale comes just a day after Embraer confirmed a new firm order for six light attack and advanced trainer A-29 Super Tucano aircraft from a separate undisclosed customer.

The A-29 Super Tucano is promoted as providing air forces with “versatility for armed reconnaissance, close air support, light attack, and advanced training missions on a single platform”.

Embraer has received more than 290 orders for A-29 Super Tucanos including new sales in 2024 to the Portuguese, Uruguayan and Paraguayan air forces.

On December 27, 2024, Embraer also announced an order for two C-390 Millennium multi-mission aircraft from an undisclosed customer.
