easyJet has announced that it will launch six new routes from four UK airports for the northern summer of 2025 and will also grow its UK-based fleet with an additional A320 family aircraft being deployed at its Bristol Airport (BRS) base in the west of England resulting in the creation of around 400 jobs. easyJet currently serves 21 UK airports, offering 585 routes to 136 destinations across Europe and North Africa.

Revealing its expansion plans in a statement issued on December 11, 2024, the budget carrier said that the new services will include flights to Milan-Linate Airport (LIN) from Manchester (MAN) and Edinburgh (EDI) airports in addition to two new routes from Birmingham Airport (BHX) to Gibraltar (GIB) and Bordeaux (BOD). The additional aircraft in Bristol will support the launch of two new routes from the airport to Palermo Airport (PMO) in Italy and Almeria Airport (LEI) in Spain.

The new routes to Milan-Linate Airport have been enabled by the opening of a five-aircraft base at Linate next spring, following approval by the European Commission for easyJet to be the short-haul remedy taker of slots at Milan-Linate and Rome-Fiumicino airports, as part of the transaction between ITA Airways and Lufthansa (as reported by AeroTime).

As a result, the airline intends to open a new three-aircraft base at Rome-Fiumicino on March 30, 2025. This new base will join the airline’s existing Italian bases in Milan-Malpensa (MXP) and Naples (NPL), offering a wider choice of routes to and from Italy’s primary air gateways.

Flights to Milan-Linate from Manchester and Edinburgh will commence on March 30, 2025, with flights operating up to seven days a week throughout the year. These flights will complement existing easyJet services to Milan-Malpensa. The airline will also be increasing the frequency of flights from London-Gatwick Airport (LGW) to Milan-Linate from one to two daily departures.

From Birmingham, flights to Bordeaux will commence on May 1, 2025, and to Gibraltar from June 1, 2025, with twice-weekly departures throughout the summer to Bordeaux and flights year-round to Gibraltar. The new flights from Bristol to Almeria in Spain will launch on June 24, 2025, and will operate twice a week throughout the year, while a new summer route to the Sicilian capital of Palermo (PMO) will launch on June 26, 2025, with twice-weekly departures.

In addition to the new routes and increased frequencies, the airline also announced that a 19th Airbus A320 family aircraft will be based at at Bristol Airport. The new addition will join other additional aircraft being added at Manchester, Edinburgh, and Birmingham airports for summer 2025. These are in addition to the three aircraft being added at the airline’s latest UK base at London-Southend Airport (SEN) which is due to open at the end of March 2025.

“Following another consecutive record summer [in 2024], easyJet is continuing to grow in the UK next year with more aircraft, enabling us to offer an even greater choice of flights and package holidays for our customers across the country,” said Ali Gayward, easyJet UK Country Manager. “Our investment in two new bases in Italy will also benefit our customers in the UK, providing great value and convenient connectivity to major European cities, whether they’re traveling for leisure or business, and we look forward to welcoming them on board.”
