The Philipine carrier Cebu Pacific Air has unveiled a brand-new Airbus A320neo after welcoming the jet at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL) in Manila.
The new fuel-efficient A320neo touched down in MNL on April 17, 2024, after arriving from Airbus’ facility in Tianjin, China.
The A320neo is the fourth new aircraft delivery for Cebu Pacific in 2024 and reaffirms the airline’s “commitment to promoting sustainable aviation and strengthening its operational resiliency”.
Cebu Pacific plans to operate an all-neo fleet by 2008 with the airline attracted to the family aircraft’s green credentials.
“This aircraft delivery supports our goal of providing safe, reliable, and affordable flights as the demand for air travel remains strong. We also continue to incorporate sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in our operations as part of our decarbonization efforts, which can pave the way for a more sustainable air travel in the coming years,” Alex Reyes, CEB Chief Strategy Officer, said.
The use of SAF results in up to 80% reduction in carbon emissions across the fuel’s lifecycle.
According to Cebu Pacific the airline currently operates eight Airbus 330s, 34 Airbus 320s, 21 Airbus 321s and 14 ATR turboprop aircraft.
Earlier in April 2024, the aircraft lessor Avolon announced a sale and leaseback agreement for four brand-new Airbus A330neo aircraft with Cebu Pacific.
The first aircraft is expected to be delivered by late 2024, with the final delivery scheduled in 2026.
Avolon has been a lessor for Cebu Pacific since 2012 and has already leased 11 aircraft to the airline, including five A320ceos, three A320neos, and three A330neos.
