A Cebu Pacific A321neo aircraft became stuck in a grassy area while being repositioned at Manila International Airport (MNL), prompting flight delays throughout the day.

The incident occurred in the morning of July 12, 2024. The 3.2 year old Airbus A321neo, registration RP-C4126, was being towed while repositioning from Bay 111 to Bay 122A of MNL Airport’s Terminal 3, when its left maingear rolled off the paved ground and veered towards a grassy, muddy area.

There were no passengers or crew onboard the plane at the time and no injuries were reported.

The incident left Bays 110-112 at the airport temporarily unavailable for use, prompting delays to several domestic and at least 13 international flights.

“This situation is causing ramp congestion and subsequent delays in our operations,” the low-cost carrier said in a statement, issued around 09:30 local time.

A local media outlet managed to capture the situation at the airport check-in area when flights were delayed due to the incident.

The aircraft was eventually removed from its position at roughly 13:55 local time, freeing up the three bays.

Meanwhile, Cebu Pacific passengers departing late in the afternoon and early in the evening have taken to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to air their discontent about experiencing delays of over five hours.
