Libyan airline Berniq Airways has placed a firm order for six Airbus A320neo family aircraft to further develop its regional and international routes.

The announcement was made on July 23, 2024, at the Farnborough International Airshow in the United Kingdom.

“We are proud to be the first airline in Libya to order the advanced A320neo Family aircraft,” said Waseem Ezzway, Chairman of Berniq Airways. “This significant investment marks a new chapter for Berniq Airways as we continue to lead the way in modernizing our fleet and enhancing our service offerings.”

The A321neo is the largest aircraft in the Airbus A320neo family. According to Airbus, by incorporating new generation engines and Sharklets, the A321neo offers a 50% noise reduction and at least 20% fuel savings and CO2 reduction compared to previous generation single-aisle aircraft.

The A320 family can operate with up to 50% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). The manufacturer aims for its aircraft to operate on 100% SAF by 2030.

Berniq Airways already operates six A320 aircraft and currently runs 24 direct flights from Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Turkey, and United Arab Emirates.
