The Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) certainly came up with a creative way of raising funds for charity.

On August 30, 2024, RAAF’s No. 36 Squadron hosted a C-17 Globemaster III Tug-O-War event at RAAF Base Amberley in Queensland, Australia.

10 teams, with 25 personnel in each, had a go at manually pulling a Boeing C-17 Globemaster III military transport aircraft. The aircraft weighs 128 tons, or 116,120 kilos.

Each team had to pull the aircraft 25 meters in the quickest time possible.

The Ventia team came in first at 22.3 seconds, followed by the No. 33 Squadron team at 22.6 seconds.

The event raised AU 5,000 ($3329) in total.

Proceeds from the event were given to Due South, a self-funded organization that caters to delivering wellness initiatives for Australian veterans, first responders, and their families.
