For the ninth year in a row, Japan’s ANA Group has received a gold recognition in the PRIDE Index 2024 assessment by “Work With Pride”, a Japanese nonprofit organization.
The PRIDE Index aims to help to create workplaces in Japan where LGBTQ+ individuals can work comfortably.
ANA said it has long prioritized fostering a safe and inclusive work environment for all employees and has actively supported LGBTQ+ rights through various educational initiatives, including seminars, e-learning courses and discussion groups.
To promote an inclusive workplace and address LGBTQ+ issues, ANA Group established its Basic Policy on Respect for Diversity of Sexuality (LGBTQ+).
In 2023, the group launched activities that engaged nearly 580 employees as allies to support and advocate for their LGBTQ+ colleagues.
“We strive daily to champion diversity, inclusion and acceptance,” Junko Yazawa, Group Chief Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Officer said in a statement.
“Our ‘ANA Group LGBTQ+ Policy’ is central to this mission, providing training and systems necessary to eliminate discrimination and prejudice. Achieving Gold recognition for the ninth consecutive year is a significant achievement, and we remain committed to finding new ways to foster a truly inclusive workplace for all our employees,” Yazawa added.
Work With Pride’s evaluation is based on five key factors: policy, representation, inspiration (activities to raise awareness), development (training/educational systems and programs) and engagement/empowerment. 36 of ANA HOLDING’s group companies performed with distinction in all categories.

And miraculously, the aircraft can fix itself with no human input whatsoever. It doesn’t matter how amazing the crew are, if the jet is broken. You are going nowhere. Give the humble maintenance engineers a mention please.
I’ve liked the general concept of the article, which will give the travelling public a good idea of what goes on in that deck Which is off limits to anyone irrelevant to the operation(after 9/11, thanks to Bin Laden). However, there are several setbacks to the whole narrative When it comes to the SOP of preparation for departure, especially the on the engine start procedures. As a professional pilot on the Boeing series of fleets, I can tell you that it’s a normal SOP to start BOTH ENGINES at the same time on B787 models. It’s a normal practice as per Boeing 787 Manuals and we do it all the time. Thanks
As so often happens, you forgot to mention the Flight Dispatcher (or Flight Follower, depending on the airline). This is the person who plans the route, checks all NOTAMS and ensures that the weather is within limits for safety. They create the flight plan and file the ATC strip.
We simply couldn’t mention every aspect of every flight, as you will appreciate, for space and length reasons. Thanks for your input though.
Nice! Very professional and informative article. Compliments 👍
