Alaska Airlines has announced that it will start serving its own signature craft beer.
The ‘Cloud Cruiser’ is a new India pale ale (IPA) and will be custom-made exclusively for Alaska Airlines by Fremont Brewery, an artisan craft brewery based in Seattle, one of the carrier’s hub cities.
The Alaska-branded beer will be free for passengers in first and premium classes and available for purchase in the rest of the cabin. Cloud Cruiser will also be available at some of Alaska Airlines’ lounges throughout the United States.
Fremont Brewery uses a selection blend of malts grown in its own state of Washington to produce Cloud Cruiser. The beer will be served in aluminum cans featuring an exclusive colorful design which showcases an Alaska Airlines 737-8 MAX soaring over landscape that evokes the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
The use of local food and beverages is a recurring theme at Alaska Airlines. The airline often highlights the seasonal ingredients and the local provenance of many of the food and drink it serves onboard in its marketing materials.
