Wizz Air, the low-cost carrier based in Hungary, has embarked on a one-of-a-kind journey with two Airbus A321neo aircraft to bring back Hungarian citizens from Canada and the United States on March 31, 2020.
The airline, partnered with the Hungarian government, took off for four cities in North America: Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, New York and Toronto, Canada. Two Wizz Air aircraft, HA-LVC and HA-LVE, departed from Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport, Hungary (BUD) at 8:14 AM and 8:19 AM local time (UTC +2), respectively. The airline’s jets are headed towards Keflavik International Airport (KEF) for a technical stop before the two A321neos go their separate ways in North America.
One of the aircraft will depart KEF and head towards Miami International Airport (MIA), whereupon it will head towards Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) and make its last stop on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean in Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ), before turning back towards Hungary via Iceland.
Wizz Air’s second A321neo will depart from Keflavik and fly towards Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Before returning to Hungary, it will also stop at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and once more in Iceland before its return to Budapest, Hungary, as indicated by the plan released by the Hungarian embassy in the United States.
