A woman has been arrested by police after she used a fake ticket to enter an airport terminal in India to say goodbye to her friend.
According to the Free Press Journal, airport security became suspicious after the woman returned to the Pre-Embarkation Security Check (PESC) claiming she had lost her laptop.
A First Information Report (FIR) was filed against the woman for the security breach that occurred at Bengaluru International Airport (BLR), and she was subsequently arrested, police confirmed on November 27, 2023.
When the woman returned to the PESC she was told she would need to cancel the ticket to leave the vicinity but when she went to a private airline company kiosk the forgery was discovered.
The woman was then handed over to Bengaluru International Airport police and an investigation into the incident was launched.
Similarly in May 2023, a man was arrested in India after he used a fake Vistara Airlines ticket on his mobile phone to enter Mumbai Airport (BOM).
The man allegedly used the forgery to gain access to the airport so that he could find information about his missing phone which he had lost the week before when flying from BOM to Delhi.
The man was arrested under Indian Penal Code sections 420 (cheating), 465 (forgery) and 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating).
