Hungary-based ultra-low-cost carrier Wizz Air announced a livery design competition, inviting customers to offer their designs.
The goal is to attract attention to Wizz Air’s attempts to reduce CO2 emissions, the company’s press release suggests.
To assist the company in its efforts, ‘creative individuals’ are encouraged to offer a new ‘sustainability’ livery for one of Wizz Air’s Airbus A321neo aircraft.
The deadline for the proposals is February 12, 2023. The winning design will receive 2000 Eur in Wizz vouchers, the company promises.
The winner’s offer also “stands the chance to be used partially or fully” on the company’s aircraft, the release adds.
Wizz Air signed the deal to acquire 75 Airbus A321neo and 27 A321XLR aircraft in late 2022, claiming that transition to the new aircraft will help to reduce the airline’s CO2 emissions intensity by 25% by 2030.
Wizz also announced plans to operate 500 aircraft by the end of the decade, expanding more than two-fold from its current fleet of 153 jets.
Despite ambitious plans, recent months were marked by a streak of Wizz Air’s base closures with the company citing high operational costs and safety measures.
Financial year of 2022 also brought the company over 642 million Eur in net losses, the latest quarterly losses being blamed on challenges in both operational and economic challenges.
