Virgin Atlantic is preparing for the launch of a new route linking London Heathrow (LHR) and Sao Paulo, Brazil (GRU).

This route, which will start on May, 13 2024, represents Virgin Atlantic’s first foray into Latin America.

The new service is set to run daily and will be operated by Boeing 787-9 aircraft fitted with a three-class cabin with 31 Upper Class (Virgin’s business class brand), 35 premium economy and 192 economy class seats.

Virgin Atlantic will be codesharing with LATAM, which will also provide connecting options throughout its extensive network, spanning the whole of South America. SkyTeam member Aerolineas Argentinas will also provide onward connectivity towards Buenos Aires, Argentina.

This launch is part of Virgin Atlantic’s efforts to expand its geographical footprint and diversify its network. Other destinations to be added soon are Bengaluru, India (BLR) and, from October 2023, Dubai (DXB). The British carrier will also add a seasonal service between Manchester (MAN) and Las Vegas (LAS), during the next summer season.
