Turkish Airlines has announced that it is to launch a new nonstop service to Denver (DEN), Colorado from its Istanbul (IST) hub, commencing from June 11, 2024.

At 6,130 miles, this new intercontinental route dethrones United Airlines’ service to Tokyo-Narita (NRT) as the longest scheduled flight out of Denver international airport.

The new service, to be operated by an Airbus A350-900 fitted with 316 seats, will link two major Star Alliance hubs. Denver is a hub city for United Airlines, which operates an extensive network out of the Colorado airport covering most of the West and Midwest US states.

Denver will therefore become Turkish Airlines’ 14th destination in the US, joining New York (JFK), Newark (EWR), Atlanta (ATL), Boston (BOS), Chicago (ORD), Dallas (DFW), Detroit (DTW), Houston (IAH), Los Angeles (LAX), Miami (MIA), San Francisco (SFO), Seattle (SEA) and Washington-Dulles (IAD).

Turkish Airlines plans to launch with a thrice-weekly service, which will become four per week from July 11, 2024, with the addition of a Sunday frequency.

Flights will depart Istanbul at 13.55 and arrive in Denver at 17.40. The return flight will depart at 19.35 and arrive in Istanbul at 16.45 the following day (all times local).

Although it handles a somewhat limited number of long-haul services, Denver International Airport is ranked 6th in the World in terms of passenger traffic, handling nearly 78 million passengers in 2023.
