SWISS presents its new long-haul cabin revamp

SWISS

On March 3, 2023, SWISS unveiled a new long haul cabin product that will be rolled out across its long-haul fleet from 2025 onwards.

The new product, named ‘SWISS Senses’, will affect all four cabin classes (First, Business, Premium Economy and Economy) and aims to provide a revamped and more personalized passenger experience.

According to SWISS CEO, Dieter Vranckx, this is the most comprehensive product redesign of the whole history of the airline.

SWISS parent company Lufthansa also presented its own new long-haul product, called Allegris, at an event in Berlin just a few days earlier.

The new cabins will feature suites, a first for the Swiss airline, both in first class and sections of the business class cabin. These will have fully closable doors for total privacy and a décor combining slate-black exterior tones and a green interio, that is said to be inspired by the springs at Vals in Alpine canton of Graubünden, in Souheastern Switzerland. Just as in Lufthansa’s new first-class suites, one of the suites will be double, making it possible for two passengers travelling together to share the space.

The business class has also been thoroughly redesigned. It will feature several types of seats catering to different profiles of passengers, from solo travellers to seats for couples, which will be able to have some common space. Some business class seats will also offer extra privacy with sliding doors.

The Premium Economy class, which was introduced as recently as 2022, has proven to be popular according to SWISS and will remain unchanged.

The Economy class cabin will also get a face-lift, with its seats replaced with new, more modern versions, featuring a 13-inch high-resolution screen, storage for amenities and a USB port.

The requisite materials, as well as the overall look – with a palette of warm and muted claret, anthracite and beige tones – have been chosen with the intention of providing a soothing, calm atmosphere.

The new seats will be retrofitted in the airline’s Airbus A330-300 fleet first and subsequently its Boeing 777-300ERs, while the new A350-900s SWISS has on order will arrive with the new cabin already installed.

The parallels with Lufthansa’s new Allegris cabin are readily apparent. However, sources at SWISS confirmed that, while the new cabin product has been developed in tandem with the Lufthansa Group and benefited from intragroup synergies, the SWISS Senses product is comprehensively different to Allegris.
