Samson Sky has revealed that it received orders for 115 of its Switchblade flying car at AirVenture Oshkosh in July 2023.

In a statement by Samson Sky on August 3, 2023, the company said the eVTOL order was valued at $22 million.

The two-seat flying sports car is perhaps one of the most sought-after flying cars, with over 2400 reservations made from 57 countries, including all 50 states in America.

“It was great to be back at AirVenture to take advantage of all the industry experts and suppliers who attend the show,” Sam Bousfield, designer of the Switchblade, founder and CEO of Samson Sky, said. “We were able to hold several key meetings with future partners and investors that made the show an even bigger success for us.”

So far, the test flights have been held at the Moses Lake Airport in Central Washington.

Powered by a 200hp liquid-cooled Samson 3 engine, the vehicle is being put through a rigorous flight test program to validate flight capabilities and correct any deviations found.

Flight testing will continue for several months while the Samson Team learns from its test flights and finalizes the production engineering that will allow the company to start Switchblade production.

The Switchblade is a three-wheel, street-legal vehicle that customers will be able to keep parked at home.

“The feedback we’re getting is, the practicality of the Switchblade checks all the boxes for what people truly want in a flying car. We hope a Switchblade will grace the skies and streets of your city very soon,” Bousfield added.
