Qatar Airways has announced that it is expanding its services to Canada with direct flights to Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) from Doha Hamad International Airport (DOH).

The thrice-weekly direct flights will commence on December 11, 2024, and will be operated using the carrier’s fleet of Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.

The flight will offer two cabin classes: 42 Qsuite Business Class seats and 312 seats on economy class.

According to Qatar Airways, the new Toronto service will provide travelers from Canada and beyond with convenient access to destinations across its global network, including

Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB), Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK), Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport  (DEL), Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM) and Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM).

“The Toronto route is a strong and enduring commitment towards providing Qatar Airways’ Canadian customers with the enhanced connectivity they deserve, as well as access to our world-leading service and Qsuite in-flight product,” Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer  Badr Mohammed Al-Meer said in a statement.

“The addition of a fourteenth gateway to our Americas network is also a testament to our aim in maintaining a key presence across the local market, and cements our reputation as a reliable global connector,” Al-Meer added.

According to a March 2024 report by Canadian immigration media outlet CIC News, one of the strongest immigrant communities in Canada is the South Asian community, which has seen substantial growth in the last 20 years.

As of the latest census (2021), there are 2.3 million people in Canada of South Asian heritage, 1.1 million of which reside in Toronto.
