In an incredibly busy week, low-cost carrier Jetstar has unveiled a brand-new uniform for 6,000 staff members while welcoming its first ever Airbus A320neo aircraft.
On November 28, 2024, the Qantas Group subsidiary airline announced that the first of its new next generation Airbus A320neo aircraft arrived at Melbourne Airport (MEL) earlier in the week.
The A320neo, registered VH-A5A, left the Airbus facility in Toulouse, France, on November 22, 2024, and stopped at Muscat and Kuala Lumpa along the way before arriving in Australia on November 24, 2024.
“The aircraft’s features mirror the carrier’s new A321neo LRs and include 188 modern, ergonomic seats, extra-large overhead bins, in-seat USB power sockets and seat back device holders,” said a spokesperson for Jetstar.
According to Australian Aviation, the new Airbus A320neo is the first of 13 on Jetstar’s order books scheduled to arrive up to 2029.
The newly arrived A320neo is the first of the aircraft type to be registered in Australia and is expected to begin flying passengers in December 2024.
Jetstar also selected November 28, 2024, to launch its new cabin crew, pilots and airport staff uniforms across the Australia, New Zealand, and Asia Pacific network.
The staff uniform has not been changed since Jetstar launched 20 years ago so renowned Australian fashion designer, Genevieve Smart, was brought in to create the new look.
The new color palette includes a softer orange and blue color combination which was “inspired by sunset as seen through an aircraft window”.
The uniform will be worn by more than 6,000 of the airline’s frontline team members and offers a range of options to cater for individual style and preferences.
Among the options available are blazers in blue and orange, a shirt dress, tailored skirts, tapered fit trousers, polos and overcoats.
The new pilot uniform will switch from the more traditional black to blue and will feature modern cuts, new epaulettes and the option of a neck scarf.
“Our new look uniform adds to our investment in 14 new domestic and international routes this year, our first new A320neo which landed this week, new A321neo LR aircraft, and updated cabins for our international widebody Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet,” said Jetstar Group CEO, Stephanie Tully,
She added: “Everything we do each day is aimed at helping customers fly to more places, more often for less, and we’re on track to again sell more than 12 million fares for under than $100 this year.”
