A pilot has been killed after performing a fly-past for a couple who were celebrating the revealing of their baby’s gender in front of friends and family.

In video shared on social media the parents-to-be can be seen stood next to balloons and large, illuminated letters that reads “OH BABY”.

In the background a Piper PA-25-235 Pawnee aircraft can be seen approaching to perform a dramatic fly-past.

As the pilot flies only a few meters above the happy couple, the plane showers the area in pink powder and confetti is fired up into the air from the ground.

However, the celebration quickly turns to horror as the Piper’s left wing appears to collapse causing the aircraft to climb steeply into the air.

The second wing then also buckles under the strain and the plane tumbles towards ground and out of the camera frame.

Unfortunately, with all the noise from the celebrations filling the area none of the gathered crowd seem to notice the tragedy that unfolded above them.

In a second video that was recorded away from the party, the aircraft can be seen uncontrollably spinning.

According to the Aviation Safety Network the crash occurred on September 2, 2023, near El Batallón and de la Laguna in the municipality of San Pedro, Navolato in Mexico.

According to Mexican local media the pilot was a 32-year-old man named Luis Ángel L.

The pilot initially survived the crash but was pronounced dead while in the care of paramedics on the way to hospital.
