Norwegian has announced big expansion plans for the northern summer season of 2024. The airline has just launched a total of 40 new routes, including new point-to-point scheduled services outside of its Nordic heartland.

Of the 40 new routes announced, nine will originate from Norway, 17 from Denmark, nine from Sweden, and two new routes from Finland.

New point-to-point routes from Malaga to Munich (AGP-MUC), Alicante to Munich (ALC-MUC), Riga to Corfu (RIX-CFU), and Riga to Tivat (RIX-TIV) are also part of the extended program for the 2024 summer season, which runs from March 31 until October 27.

With the new routes and point-to-point services, the carrier’s full summer program will see Norwegian aircraft serving 332 routes and flying to 123 destinations.

The airline will add Basel (BSL), Lyon (LYS), Montpellier (MPL), Pristina (PRN), Zadar (ZAD), and Bari (BRI), amongst other destinations to the summer program. Additionally, a new route between London-Gatwick (LGW) and Gothenburg (GOT) will operate with four weekly flights from May 2, 2024.

The new Munich to Malaga and Munich to Alicante routes will operate throughout the summer season, as will the routes Riga to Corfu and Riga to Tivat.

“Launching these new routes expands our network and offers our customers more choice, said Magnus Thome Maursund, Chief Commercial Officer of Norwegian. “From our bases in Europe, we are also starting new point-to-point routes. We are looking forward to a busy summer season and to welcoming our customers onboard.”

“Our exciting new destinations will take travelers to vibrant European cities and destinations with crystal clear waters and sandy beaches. Our job is to make sure we get our customers to where they want to go and that their journey is as pleasant and smooth as possible,” Maursund added.

For the summer of 2024, Norwegian will operate a fleet of 90 aircraft. Currently, the carrier operates 46 Boeing 737-800s plus a further eight 737 MAX 8s.
