Rocket warning sirens sounded in Tel Aviv and several nearby towns after new intense rocket attacks were fired from Gaza.

According to Cumta, a system that warns about rocket sirens in Israel, the first alarm sounded at 15:22 local time and lasted for an hour. Some strikes were still being reported when this article was published.

Hamas claimed that some of the rockets damaged Tel Aviv-Ben Gurion Airport (TLV). However, a spokesperson for the airport quoted by Reuters denied any bombing occurred, saying that operations were unaffected.

The Magen David Adom rescue service, responsible for emergency medical responses in Israel, reported no injuries in the aftermath of the attack, The Times of Israel reported.

It was the most intense rocket barrage to be targeted at central Israel since the initial offensive that began on October 7, 2023.

This recent wave of violence has taken a heavy toll on both sides. As of October 10, 2023, Israeli authorities have reported over 900 fatalities and 2,616 injuries since the start of the offensive. Meanwhile, Palestinian authorities have stated that 687 people have been killed and 3,727 others injured.
