Newly created low-cost airline, Bees Airlines Romania, has launched regular flights in August 2024.
The new carrier trades under the “Bees Airlines” brand, which was previously used by another startup airline that operated briefly in Ukraine between 2021 and 2022. This airline ceased operations as a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Romanian investors subsequently bought the trademark to use it for the new carrier, which has also secured its own Air Operator Certificate (AOC). However, there is no connection between the two airlines.
Bees Airlines Romania, which started operating some charter flights to leisure destinations back in March 2024, kicked off its scheduled flight program on August 5, 2024, with a flight between its main base at Bucharest Henri Coandă International Airport (OTP) and Heraklion (HER), on the island of Crete, Greece.
This flight will be followed by the progressive roll out of operations between the end of August and early October 2024, including regular flights linking Bucharest to Prague (PRG), Verona (VRN), Tel Aviv (TLV) and Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden (FKB). It will also see flights between Moldavian capital Chisinau (RMO) and Verona and between Suceava (SCV), Romania and both Tel Aviv and Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden.
As of August 12, 2024, Bees Airlines operates two Airbus A320 aircraft, although it plans to expand its fleet soon as it grows its business with tour operators.
