A preliminary investigation report into the Yeti Airlines plane crash said the pilot indicated there was no power in the engine before tragedy struck.

The plane disaster, which left 71 dead and one person unaccounted for, unfolded just before landing in the tourist city of Pokhra, Nepal on January 15, 2023.

Following the crash, an expert panel was set up to understand what happened that fateful day and ultimately discover what caused the crash.

According to OnlineKhabar the report said that Captain Kamal KC, an instructor pilot, took the controls from Anju Khatiwada 14 seconds before the crash.

In the preliminary report it states that Khatiwada told Captain KC there was no power in the engine.

According to Reuters earlier this month, analysis of the cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder revealed that the two propellers went into “feather in base leg of descending.”

K.B. Limbu, an aviation expert, said propellers that go into “feather” meant there was the aircraft had “no thrust.”

Information set out in the preliminary report may change as more evidence becomes known.

The final report must be submitted by the end of February 2023.
