Malaysia Airlines and Indian low-cost carrier IndiGo have entered a codeshare agreement in order to boost connectivity for its customers traveling between Malaysia and India.
Under the codeshare deal, Malaysia Airlines customers will gain wider access to destinations within India. Malaysia Airlines’ flight code “MH” will be added to seven domestic destinations in India, including:
- Kolkata-Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport (CCU)
- Varanasi International Airport (VNS)
- Patna Jay Prakash Narayan Airport (PAT)
- Tiruchirappalli International Airport (TRZ)
- Goa Dabolim Airport (GOI)
- Bhubaneswar Biju Patnaik Airport (BBI)
- Visakhapatnam Airport (VTZ)
This complements Malaysia Airlines’ current direct routes to 10 key hubs in India, including:
- New Delhi – Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL)
- Mumbai – Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM)
- Bengaluru – Kempegowda International Airport (BLR)
- Chennai International Airport (MAA)
- Hyderabad – Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (HYD)
- Kochi – Cochin International Airport (COK)
- Ahmedabad Airport (AMD)
- Amritsar Sri Guru Ram Das Ji International Airport (ATQ)
- Thiruvananthapuram International Airport (TRV)
- Kolkata Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport (CCU)
Meanwhile, IndiGo’s “6E” flight code will be added to Malaysia Airlines domestic flights from its main hub at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) Terminal 1 to destinations including:
- Penang International Airport (PEN)
- Langkawi International Airport (LGK)
- Johor Bahru Senai International Airport (JHB)
- Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KBI)
- Kuching International Airport (KCH)

“This collaboration allows us to offer Malaysia Airlines customers greater access to India’s rich cultural and economic landscape, while warmly welcoming IndiGo passengers to experience the unique charm of Malaysian Hospitality,” Ismail added.
Ismail further added: “This strategic partnership reflects our mutual commitment to boosting tourism growth between our nations, especially with the visa-free entry for tourists between the two countries. Our goal is to provide more travel options, enhanced connectivity, and a seamless travel experience for our valued customers.”
The codeshare partnership follows a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that the two airlines signed in April 2024.
