Aircraft leasing firm Avolon has firmed an order for 20 A330-900neo aircraft that was announced during the Paris Air Show in June 2023 in the form of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
Avolon clearly has the A330ceo replacement market in mind, as confirmed by the company’s CEO, Andy Cronin, in a public announcement released on September 5, 2023.
“We see a high level of widebody demand within the delivery window for these aircraft,” Cronin said. “With our existing widebody pipeline already placed, these new aircraft will support our future growth plans and allow us to provide options for carriers looking to replace older A330ceo aircraft with the more fuel efficient A330neo.”
There are over 1,400 A330ceo aircraft of all variants in operation.
The Irish lessor also confirmed that 50 of the A320neo aircraft it already has on order with Airbus will be up-gauged to the larger A321neos model.
This change in the order book’s composition was also anticipated in the form of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Paris Air Show.
The most recent Airbus Order & Deliveries report available from July 2023 highlights that Avolon has ordered 188 A320neo family aircraft, 56 of which have already been delivered.
