Korean Air is offering parents of its employees an immersive behind-the-scenes look at what an aviation job at the company entails with the return of its “Parents Invitation Program”.
The program, which was revived after a five-year hiatus, commenced on September 27, 2024, and will run for three months.
The first session was held at the airline’s headquarters in Seoul’s Gangseo District. Approximately 60 participants, including employees and their parents, attended the session. The event included tours of key facilities such as the Operations & Customer Center (OCC), Aviation Medical Center, Flight Training Center, and the in-house hangar.
The initiative is designed to provide employees’ parents with firsthand experience of their adult children’s work environment, fostering a deeper understanding of Korean Air’s operations.
A key feature of the Parents Invitation Program was the Flight Training Center visit, where participants experienced the Flight Training Device (FTD), an advanced pilot training simulator. Participants had the opportunity to operate cockpit controls, gaining insight into the complexities of aircraft operation.
“The program represents a step in our ongoing efforts to foster a strong, interconnected Korean Air community and strengthen our corporate culture,” Donghyeok Shin, Corporate Communications Manager of Korean Air said in a statement.
“By inviting our employees’ parents to experience our operations firsthand, we hope to build trust, express gratitude, and instill a sense of pride in our extended Korean Air family,” Shin added.
According to Korean Air, the Parents Invitation Program aligns with its commitment to corporate social responsibility and employee engagement. The airline also operates various family-oriented initiatives, including Family Day events, enrollment gifts for elementary school-bound children, and orientation sessions for college-bound students.
