Airport management and investment group Vantage Airport Group shared an update about the new Terminal 6 at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), offering a glimpse at the $4.9 billion facility.

The information was announced during the Routes World 2023 conference, which took place in Istanbul between October 15 and 17, 2023.

The new facility is under development by JFK Millennium Partners (JMP), a firm put together in 2022 and led by Vantage Airport Group, aiming to manage this project.

Terminal 6 is expected to enter service in 2026 and is part of a larger $19 billion modernization of JFK airport. It will boast 1.2 million square feet of space, 10 boarding gates, space for five different lounges and a broad range of shopping and dining offerings.

Passengers will also be able to enjoy artwork collections curated by the Public Art Fund in partnership with JMP and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

Lufthansa Group has already been confirmed as the first user of Terminal 6, with Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines and Brussels Airlines expected to move to Terminal 6 as soon as it opens. According to Vantage Airport Group, JFK Millennium Partners is also currently in advanced conversations with other airlines to move there.

The new terminal will be physically connected to Terminal 5, currently used by JetBlue, and will offer seamless transfers between the two areas of the airport.
