Japan Airlines has unveiled details, images and videos of a new four-class cabin for its new flagship jet for international service, the Airbus A350-1000.

The Tokyo-based carrier intends to debut the A350-1000 before the end of 2023 on the Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND) to New York’s John F Kennedy Airport (JKF) route.

First class suite

Japan Airlines will offer only six first class suites in the A350-1000, to provide what the carrier describes as a “unique and exclusive” environment.

For the very first time, Japan Airlines will feature individual doors for that added degree of privacy. The airline has eliminated overhead bins for this cabin, giving a ‘high ceiling’ effect, and making room for individual storage and wardrobe for each seat.

The first class seats will have three seating modes: Sofa, Seat & Single Bed, or Double Bed.

Japan Airlines has said that it will also feature the world’s first headphone-free stereo with built-in headrest speakers in the first class suites.

Business class

Japan Airlines will introduce enclosed suites with closing doors on business class, again a first for the Japanese flag carrier. Not unlike the first class suites, overhead bin compartments will be found only on window seats to give the cabin an overall more spacious look and feel.

The seat can be converted into a ‘bed mode’ with a length of approximately 198cm, with the seat cushion structured to evenly distribute body pressure.

The business class suites will also be fitted with built-in headrest speakers.
