The Saudia-owned low-cost carrier flyadeal looks poised to order 10 Airbus A330neos in its first ever widebody acquisition, according to Reuters.

Speaking to inside sources, Reuters reported that flyadeal could announce the agreement with Airbus within weeks after setting its sights on the A330-900 after also considering the Boeing 737 MAX 9.

At the Routes 2024 event in Bahrain, flyadeal’s CEO Steven Greenaway revealed that the airline intended to order its first widebody aircraft by the end of 2024.

Greenaway said that the new widebodies will feature a small premium cabin while maintaining a focus on high-density seating in the economy section.

In June 2024, it was also reported that the Saudia Group was in talks with both Boeing and Airbus over the possibility of placing an order for new widebody aircraft.

This followed a confirmed order in May 2024 at the Future Aviation Forum in Riyadh for 12 A320neos and 93 A321neo aircraft.

According to ch-aviation, 18 A320neos and 39 A321neos were slated to join flyadeal’s fleet from the 105 aircraft ordered.

flyadeal currently operates a fleet of 36 aircraft, comprising 10 A320-200s, 25 A320neos, plus one additional A330-200 leased from Jordan Aviation.

The carrier was founded in 2016 and is based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
