The first of Eurowings 10 Airbus A321 planes is ready for what the airline hopes will be hugely profitable summer season.

In a fleet swap with Lufthansa, Eurowings will add 10 new aircraft to European operations that fly to the summer hotspots.

The planes will enable Eurowings to fly more people than ever to popular tourist destinations such as Palma de Mallorca, Crete or the Canary Island.

With around 230 seats, the A321 can carry about a third more passengers than its A320 family relative.

After some transformation work, six further A321ceo will be deployed in Eurowings flight operations from May 2023.

Following that four brand-new Airbus A321neo will join the fleet by the end of 2023.

The first A321, or ”Mallorca Airbus” as they are affectionately known, has already been transformed in the Eurowings livery.

The boost in aircraft numbers is in response to increased demand for holidays in 2023.

It will be the first summer since the pandemic without travel restrictions, and there will no longer be a test and mask requirement.
