Finnair has announced that it is adding extra frequencies and new routes to its European network in the upcoming summer season in response to the growing demand for travel across the continent.

The new destinations include Bodø Airport (BOO) in Norway, previously unserved by Finnair, and Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport (LJU) in Slovenia, marking a return to the Slovenian capital in the next high season. Furthermore, the carrier will begin operating flights to Milan Linate Airport (LIN), in addition to already existing flights to Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP).

Additional frequencies were added between Helsinki, Finland and Berlin, Germany, Copenhagen, Denmark, Vilnius, Lithuania, and Riga, Latvia

“Travel has recovered at a good pace and we are increasing flights to European routes to meet the increased demand in Asia. For example, the Bergen and Bodø routes are seamlessly connected to our flights to Japan,” said Ole Orvér, the Chief Comercial Officer (CCO) at Finnair. The airline pointed out that it flies to the majority of capitals in Europe several times a day, as well as “popular vacation destinations, such as Rhodes and Alicante”.

“Finnair’s European flights connect smoothly to our long-haul destinations Tokyo, Osaka, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Soul, Singapore, Bangkok, Delhi, Mumbai, and Doha,” the company continued in its press release, which was issued on January 17, 2023.

Itineraries to Osaka, Tokyo Narita International Airport (NRT), Hong Kong, and Delhi, were also either added anew or extra flights were scheduled for the upcoming summer season, Finnair revealed in December 2022.

“We are happy to be able to respond to the increasing travel demand between Europe and key Asian destinations. In summer 2023, we will be operating altogether 14 weekly connections between Finland and Japan, and we have daily connections to Delhi and Hong Kong,” Orvér said at the time.

The carrier finished 2022 with a total of 9 million passengers.
