Taiwan’s EVA Air purchased five Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, further bolstering its fleet of the type.

The airline announced that it will buy the 787-9s on March 13, 2023. According to a filing on the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE), the unit price will not exceed $355 million, while the total transaction value shall not exceed $1.7 billion.

According to Boeing’s list prices, the average price of a 787-9 is $292.5 million, with the price “reflecting a range of available options and configurations for each model” that include additional or special performance capabilities, interior configurations, avionics, fuel capacity, and other items.

Currently, EVA Air operates 10 Boeing 787 aircraft: four 787-9 and six 787-10s, with four and seven aircraft of the type, respectively, on order, according to ch-aviation.com data. All current and future Dreamliners are powered by the General Electric (GE) Next-generation (GEnx), showed ch-aviation data.

In addition to the 10 Dreamliners, EVA Air has 19 Airbus A321, three A330-200, nine A330-300, eight Boeing 777F, and 34 777-300ER aircraft in its fleet, per ch-aviation.com.
