Embraer completed flight tests of the Phenom 300E and Praetor 600 business jets using 100% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).

The test flights took place at the Embraer facility in Melbourne, Australia, with the support of engine makers Honeywell Aerospace and Pratt & Whitney Canada and fuel system suppliers Parker and Safran. The Phenom 300E is powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW535E1 engines while the Praetor 600 uses two Honeywell HTF7500E engines.

The fuel used in the tests was provided by World Fuel Services.

“We are proud to have successfully flown the Phenom 300E and Praetor 600 on 100% neat SAF, an important step as our operators are increasingly interested in and adopting this fuel,” said Michael Amalfitano, Embraer Executive Jets President and CEO.

According to the manufacturer, all Embraer aircraft are certified to use a blend of up to 50% SAF mixed with conventional jet fuel, following ASTM International specifications.

In July 2022, Embraer and Pratt & Whitney completed a test flight using an E195-E2 jet, with one GTF engine running on 100% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).

The Brazilian manufacturer recently unveiled its new, upgraded Phenom 100EX private jet ahead of the 2023 NBAA Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA-BACE), taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada, from October 17 to 19, 2023.
