Polish flag carrier LOT Polish Airlines is considering both Embraer and Airbus for an upcoming order of 84 aircraft as part of its plan to renew and expand its regional fleet.

The airline will send a request for proposal (RFP) to both aircraft makers shortly, as confirmed by Poland’s Ministry of State Assets. This move takes place within the framework of a much larger aircraft procurement program that aims to induct up to 110 new jets into the carrier’s fleet by 2028.

LOT has long been a large Embraer user and, as of March 2024, it operates 43 E-Jets made by the Brazilian manufacturer (a mix of E-170/175 and E-190/195s) on its European routes.

While not stated in the ministry’s announcement, it is likely that LOT is also looking at the Airbus A220, the smallest of the Airbus airliner family, as a potential replacement for its regional jet fleet.

Meanwhile, Brazilian aircraft maker Embraer is pitching its upgraded E2 family to existing customers as a cost-efficient, low fuel consumption replacement for the previous generation of E-Jets.
