Edelweiss Air, the leisure arm of SWISS International Airlines and part of the Lufthansa Group of carriers has revealed its plans for the northern summer of 2025. The upgraded schedules will see the Zurich-based carrier add seven new destinations to its route network and increase frequencies on others as the operator plans its busiest-ever summer season. Edelweiss will be flying to a total of 93 destinations in 37 countries during the summer of 2025.
With effect from June 2, 2025, the carrier will add twice-weekly flights to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) from Zurich (ZRH) which will be followed by flights to Halifax-Stanfield International Airport (YHZ) on July 3, 2025, also on a twice-weekly basis.
On the short-haul side, the Georgian capital city of Tbilisi will be served twice weekly from April 12, 2025, followed by Bristol Airport (BRS) in the UK from June 2, 2025, also twice weekly. Additionally, Terceira Airport (TER) in the Azores will be served once a week from June 25, 2025, while Zadar Airport (ZAD) in Croatia will see Edelweiss service twice a week from June 28, 2025. Finally, Calvi Airport (CLY) in Corsica will be served once a week from July 6, 2025.
In addition to the range of new destinations, the airline will add flights to the island of Sardinia with new daily flights to Olbia (OLB) and Cagliari (CAG). Meanwhile, Portugal will also benefit from an increase in services with up to six weekly frequencies to Faro Airport (FAO) and up to eight weekly flights to Madeira (FNC). Ponta Delgada (PDL) in the Azores will also see an increase in services with up to three weekly flights supplementing the new weekly flights to Terceira.
Elsewhere, services to southeast Europe will also be expanded, with two daily flights to Pristina (PRN), three weekly flights to Tivat (TIV), and two weekly flights to Varna (VAR). The carrier’s offering to Croatia will also be expanded, with daily flights to Split (SPU) and two weekly flights to Pula (PUY) as well as Zadar.
Services to UK airports will also be expanded with up to ten weekly flights to Edinburgh (EDI) as well as the new flights to Bristol. The flight schedule to Iceland, Finland, and Norway will also be made more attractive, with new flights to Akureyri (AEY) on Fridays, plus new flights to Kittillä in Finland and an improved schedule to Tromsø (TOS) in Norway.
Expanding long-haul
In the summer of 2025, Edelweiss Air will expand its long-haul services to the US and Canada with several cities benefitting from additional frequencies. Tampa Airport (TPA will be served up to five times a week Las Vegas (LAS) will continue to be served up to three times a week – a route that will feature the carrier’s new Airbus A350s from mid-May 2025. Denver (DEN) will be served up to four times a week, Seattle twice a week, Vancouver (YVR) daily (also with the new Airbus A350 from July 2025), Calgary (YYC) up to three times a week, and Halifax twice a week.
Away from North America, flights to Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO) and Zanzibar (ZNZ) in Tanzania will be further strengthened with flights increasing to three times a week during the summer 2025 peak.
According to ch-aviation, Edelweiss Air operates a fleet of 14 174-seat Airbus A320s and five A340-300s which are configured to carry 314 passengers. The first of the airline’s six A350-900s will arrive with the carrier in spring 2025, with the aircraft having been formerly operated by LATAM Airlines.
