ITA Airways has revealed photographs of the first of its Airbus A220s to feature the airline’s iconic all-blue livery.
The images were posted on Twitter and later shared also by Airbus.
However, the newly painted aircraft is not ITA Airways’ first A220. The Italian airline received its first A220-300 in October 2022 and, as of July 2023, operates four aircraft of this type, with another 11 A220-300s and nine of the smaller A220-100 version on order.
Up until now, all ITA Airways’ A220 aircraft had been painted with a special “sustainability” livery that aims to draw attention to the airline’s efforts in this increasingly important field and its proclaimed commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
While the majority of ITA Airways’ fleet is painted in an intense deep blue tone, the airline’s first four A220s, as well as one Airbus A350-900, are emblazoned with the slogan “Born to be sustainable” on a mostly white background.
