We’ve all heard of bird strikes happening from time to time, but what about birds hitching a ride?
A bird that somehow wandered onto a Cathay Pacific aircraft caused a great deal of excitement and commotion on a flight from Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) to Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM).
A video clip of the flight was posted on social media, in which cabin crew can be seen scrambling and jumping in efforts to catch the joyriding bird.
“Ladies and gentlemen, it’s the captain speaking here. There’s a bird found in the cabin, and our engineering team is now trying to catch the bird,” the flight’s captain can be heard announcing via the aircraft’s PA system.
At one point, the bird can be seen flying frantically towards the back of the aircraft, but it later flew towards the front, near the cockpit, where cabin crew gathered with blankets in the hope of catching it.
The bird was indeed eventually caught, and amused passengers broke into a spontaneous round of applause.
